Any storyteller worth their salt knows that the second act is about building tension. Things have to gradually get bleaker and bleaker for the protaganist, until that final turn when things are just as bad as they can be, and there is absolutely no way out -- and the audience is waiting in suspense for that second major turn, where the hero will have to confront the problem so the story can end happily.

I feel like I am waiting for that second turn right now, waiting for act three to start. Too bad life isn't always as predictable as storytelling.
