Mid-week Weekend

Yesterday, Grey woke us all up very early.
Harvey ate a sandwich for breakfast, while Daddy put his shoes on.

And we went over to Courage Reins. Kids-On-The-Move recently bought a whole bunch of time-slots for hippotherapy riding lessons from this NFP equine center. During the staff meeting where they announced they had the time-slots, the OT that has been to our house a few times thought of Harvey, and put his name on the list. Last week I got a call asking me if I wanted the Tuesday morning time slot.
So yesterday we got up early and Harvey's speech therapist met us at Courage Reins. She helped us incorporate a whole bunch of speech activities while Harvey rode the horse. He learned how to tell his horse "stop" and "go." Next week, we are going to try playing bean bags from the back of a horse and naming the colors of the barrels that he throws the bean bags into.
I am so glad right now that we live in this school district, because the Kids On The Move program has been so great. He gets the hippotherapy in addition to his twice a month speech therapy and once a month occupational therapy. Harvey has learned a TON since starting at the end of June. I am just so impressed.

Jed's schedule was (wonderfully) empty for two days, so after horse riding we loaded the boys in the van and headed up to Logan to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa. The boys were troopers during the car ride.
In Logan, we went up to Tony Grove Lake and had a picnic. It was beautiful. Once Harvey got over his car sickness (which, incidentally, ended up all over Great-Grandma's sweater) he had a great time running around the trails, holding Grandmas hand and telling her stories.
We played a lot of blocks at Grandma's house.
When we drove home this morning, our van was loaded down with a case of root-beer flavored milk boxes (the only milk Thing 1 will drink, lately), cheese, and butter from the dairy farm, a box full of homemade jams and syrups from Grandma, raspberries, turkey, zucchini bread, ect. It was a lovely mid-week break, and we cannot wait to see Grandma and Grandpa again when they come down next week.

I am so happy for Harvey and his riding/speech lessons. He is going to love it and how many little boys get to do THAT! I Can't believe how happy Grey wakes up, wish I did.

That picture with the boys on Jed's lap and the beautiful fall leaves and red coats is very....much a keeper.
