On a television screen, CALLY NIELSON, 22, (fine, 26) terribly dressed, wearing a frazzled pony tail that reveals the impossible-to-eliminate, mid-summer shine on her forehead, sits at a Channel Two News anchor desk.

Disturbing news coming to us from an American Fork Neighborhood tonight, where hundreds are believed dead after what appears to be a gruesome killing spree. We're live to Jed, in the field.

The television cuts to JED, standing on the Nielson patio, wearing a grim expression and holding a mic.

JED
That's right Cally. Officials haven't given us an exact count yet, but they are fairly certain these are Leptinotarsa Decemlineata, more commonly called "potato bugs."

The scene on the television changes, panning over the concrete, revealing bug guts squished everywhere and, here and there, a slimey, toddler-sized handprint.

You can see why officials are having a hard time pinning down the numbers.

THE NIELSON FAMILY ROOM

Floral couches. Tiny windows. Legos everywhere. HARVEY NIELSON, 2, short, brown-hair, cow-licked, wearing his favorite Winnie-The-Pooh shirt, stands 2 feet from the screen. His usual spot.
